The most exciting new product news for 2009 is unarguably from BRP with their all new Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS, the first watercraft to feature an on-water braking system and an auto-calibrating, full rider suspension system. This new watercraft utilizes a fully integrated system called iCONTROL to give the rider more control than ever before. The iCONTROL system includes the iBR (intelligent Brake & Reverse) system that utilizes a handlebar mounted lever that electronically activates a reverse/scoop gate to bring the watercraft to a stop in half the distance of a normal watercraft. Intelligent Brake and Reverse™ (iBR™) is a Sea-Doo exclusive with several integrated functions: the world's first on-water braking system provides the rider with the ability to bring the PWC to a controlled stop on demand. BRP introduces the stepped hull design on 2009 GTX Limited iS 255 and RXT iS 255 models. The S3 hull “step” reduces drag and keeps the hull “glued to the water”. When combined with the exclusive Sea-Doo Enhanced High Performance VTS (see above), it delivers precise, tuneable handling. The new S3 hull is exceptionally stable and confidence inspiring, with much improved resistance to lateral wave motion. Its longer length allows the hull to bridge waves better for a smoother ride…and the deep-V design allows the hull to cut through rough water, which makes the ride a lot less tiring. It also enables a lean-in riding style where the G-forces work with the PWC for effortless, tight cornering. The S3 hull is also exceptionally strong, yet 20% lighter than competitive hull materials.
