Seminar Details

With over half a million boaters plying BC’s coastline, our combined impact on the oceans we love can be significant. Join Georgia Strait Alliance’s Michelle Young in a Green Boating workshop, and explore practical and easy tips to protect our cruising waters for generations to come. Together we will cover a wide range of topics from whale watching guidelines, to oil spill prevention and cleanup, less toxic approaches to boat cleaning and maintenance, vessel sewage regulations, minimizing damage to sensitive habitats, and more. Bring your own green boating tips to share in this engaging, interactive workshop...

About Michelle Young

Michelle Young is a coastal person at heart, and has lived on 4 of BC’s beautiful islands. She has been boating since her childhood in the Broughton Archipelago, where she took four younger siblings to their one room elementary school in a little open aluminum, and worked at Echo Bay Resort in the summers to put herself through University (she also happens to be a Chartered Accountant). Her love of the ocean and boating have led to the perfect match as Georgia Strait Alliance’s Clean Marine BC green boating and marina eco-certification program coordinator. Michelle is now settled on Gabriola Island where she loves walking her dog along the shores of the Strait of Georgia.
