Seminar Details

Kris and I have been asked many times what it is like out at sea, sailing continuously. In this seminar we will share our structure and approach; the roles and responsibilities of the navigator, the helmsman, the skipper, the schedule and routine of the multiday crossing. Lets look at open ocean adventure....

About Ryan Shellborn and Kris Jones

Ryan Shellborn 55 yrs, Critical Care Paramedic 31yrs 23,287nm at sea - Kris Jones 52 yrs, Primary Care Paramedic 20 yrs, 12,404nm at sea. Since 1995 I have skippered, crewed and singlehanded on a variety of sailboats from 27’ to 86’ on over 15 multiday passages in the Pacific Northwest; so far 23,287nm at sea. In 2007 Kris, with only 3 days sailing experience, crewed on a 26-day passage from Seattle to Hawaii. She wanted to put a magnet by the compass to make us miss Hawaii and keep going!! 11 passages and 12,404 NM later she has never looked back. Our passion for adventure has taken us climbing in Patagonia and running in Antarctica. Sailing has taken us around Vancouver Island, down to San Francisco, San Diego, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Costa Rica, Hawaii and back. Our boat is a Goderich 37, built for blue water.
